Synopsis

"Presents one long lament over the consequences of war by those who suffer most -- the women. After the fall and sacking of Troy, they bemoan their fate: they are brought into bondage by lot. Cassandra falls to Agamemnon (and prophecies his death); Andromache falls to Neoptolemus; her son, Astyanax, is cast from the walls and his mangled body is brought to Hector's mother. Troy is burned to the ground, its red flames lighting up the last of the horrors."
