Synopsis

The Reverend Kramer's wife, Diane, has left him, much to his shame. Hopkins, the local reporter and would-be poet, has suddenly lost his new lover, Dione. Mayor Springer seems to be covering up a scandal of sorts at City Hall. He has been involved with the town prostitute, Dinah, and their liaison has led to the break-up of his marriage. Added to these events is the suspicious fire at City Hall where the remains of a woman's body were found. The Reverend's wife? The poet's lover? The prostitute? The Mayor's wife? No one seems to know for sure, but each man is terrified that if there is an investigation, his most precious secret will be revealed.
