Clear Light premiered at Toronto Free Theatre (now The Canadian Stage Company’s Berkeley Street space) October, 1973. The Morality Squad forced the closure of the play, as they deemed it an "immoral" performance. An LSD trip, 2 couples, 1 ex-husband and a game of cards. Sounds simple enough. Clear Light was anything but. The evening degenerates into a fractured and horrifying series of sexual encounters (of varying stripes) and violent actions, culminating in the roasting and eating of a baby. Or is it a turkey? Who knows?
