Synopsis

In 1790, Mary Girard is committed to an asylum, having become pregnant by a man other than her husband. He has her put away and declared legally insane. Throughout the play, Mary sits in a chair as the "furies" dance around her and act out various people from her past in her present life. In the end, since she has no choice, she does go insane. A haunting, highly theatrical piece.
