Synopsis

Around a swimming-pool lounge a group of English tourists, cool drinks within reach - a familiar holiday scene. But this particular pool is in Morocco; beyond the wal that surounds it is poverty, squalor, prohibition and a colonial heritage of social, economic and sexual barrier which keeps these two worlds apart can - and does - have horrifying consequences. This play expresses its author's uncompromising vision with all his accustomed force and skill against a wider social and moral background.
